3 Apps That Make Traveling a Breeze

Traveling can be hectic, but if you arm yourself with the right tools it can make a total difference on your experience. I’m often on the road with the family and I like to be prepared so that our wait times can be as short as possible.

I caught a segment on the Today show and they were talking about three phone apps meant to keep travelers aware of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) wait times so they can keep track before they even leave home.  Up until then, I had only heard about the official app from the TSA, so I’m really glad I learned about the other two since they’re much better in practice.

I’ll break it down for you below so you can decide which to use on your next trip. If you’re headed to MAIC 2016 in August, you’ll want to keep these handy. As expensive as flights are today, you don’t want to risk missing your next one because you didn’t make it to the airport early enough.

My TSA– My TSA is the official app of the TSA and it’s currently available in both Apple and Android platforms. Today found that this was the least reliable of the three apps. I guess I’m lucky I didn’t solely depend on this app.

If you don’t know about applying for TSA PreCheck, this is something you should definitely do before anything else. TSA PreCheck allows eligible, low-risk travelers enjoy expedited security screening. Not all airlines participate but a good amount do including American Airlines, Delta, Air Canada, and Aeromexico.

MIFLIGHT– MIFLIGHT depends on crowd-sourced information so make sure when using it you report what’s going on. Today found that this app was not only correct in the timing of the line but it gave the investigator an alternate gate that had no line at all.

FLEETFleet was my favorite after watching it on the show because not only were the wait times accurate but it also can tell you what shops and food spots are available and where. Sometimes the family and I catch a bite or pick up a few things before our flights. So this feature makes this app a “must have” on my phone.
