The CDC recommends adults get 7-9 hours of sleep each night and I don’t know about you, but that type of beauty rest is a rare occasion for me. When I have the (rare) option to take a breather and not work, I soak up every second I can with my husband, my daughter, and our loved ones. I know that many working women like myself feel the same way and don’t put sleep as a very high priority in their life; if you want to make the most of the sleep you do get, create a routine and stick to it for a better night’s sleep. A bedtime routine will help you go to sleep faster, giving you more time to snooze, and recharge your batteries.
Here are 10 habits for a better night’s sleep:
1. Try to go to sleep at the same time.
2. Keep your TV and computer in a different room.
3. Turn the temperature down to below 68*.
4. Nix that afternoon hit of caffeine.
5. Turn off all lights and close the curtains.
6. Drink tea or warm water with lemon before going to sleep.
7. Try using a sound machine.
8. Resist the urge to check your phone while trying to sleep.
9. Don’t wear anything too tight to sleep.
10. Never forget to remove all makeup and brush your teeth.
