I have been an entrepreneur for so many years now, it’s tough to remember life before owning and running my own business. Thinking back, I always knew I wanted to work for myself – I had the drive and the creativity – but taking that leap of faith is a pretty big step for anyone. No matter what, it comes down to having a passion about something you believe in and then putting your mind to work to turn that passion into reality – and that reality into a business you can actually pay the bills with. If you’re thinking about taking that leap and becoming your own boss, you should know that it’s a big step. But I can also tell you it’s a great one. Here are four things I’ve learned along the way.
4 Things I’ve Learned About Running a Business
#1. How much time do you spend on networking versus focusing on the internal affairs of your business (such as management, strategy, ideation etc.)?
A: 24/7 anywhere I go, wherever I am. I always make sure to promote my products, brands and company at events, through friends & family and social networking. You are your own walking billboard and your best salesperson to sell your product.

#2. What’s the best advice you would give to our readers?
Never give up. You know it’s really easy to quit. People say, “What are the two things you do every day that help make your life successful?” Everyone knows who works around me I tackle the hardest things first, always. People have a tendency to procrastinate the hardest things in life, and I always tackle them first because once you get them out of the way, it’s like you are done. And then it’s not quitting. There are challenges. It’s not easy to be successful bit its not that hard. Eliminate negative people around you. I really control who I socialize with and who I am around because I don’t want anyone who is negative infiltrate my thoughts. With positive thinking, I can do anything I want.

#3. Follow your passions….What inspired you to create Motives? Tell me a little more about the inspiration behind the brand…
My husband got a little tired of hearing me complain about the price, selection and quality of the other brands. He said, “Why don’t you start your own?” So, I did. Motives is really the motivation behind the brand. It has to do with how a woman changes, both on the inside and the outside. If you look good, you feel good. We know that beauty begins from the inside out.

#4. Always love and support your own brand….What are your 3 favorite Market America products?
A: 1. OPC-3 – Anyone who breathes should take OPC-3.
- Isotonix – I take them all. I mix them in a big cocktail and I am ready to go all day.
- Lumiere de Vie. Can’t live without it. The products are superior to anything in the marketplace. It’s like first aid for the skin.
