What do we mean by Frame Your Face?
Well, we know that our eyes are the windows to our soul, so what does that make our eyebrows? The window frame, of course! So it’s always important to have great brows. I showed you a few months ago that I’m never without my brow kit in my makeup bag, and strong brows have been a growing trend in fashion editorials over the course of the last few seasons—we saw even more of this in Milan within the last few days. If you’re hesitant to touch your own brows, many high-end salons have full-time professionals, who specialize in brow grooming, but if you’re ready to face your best face, here are some tips:
1. Don’t overpluck! Less is more, and if you want strong full brows, just focus on cleaning up obvious strays.
2. Remember pencil power! Line up your pencil alongside your nose, going straight past the inner corner of your eye—wherever it lines up, that’s where your brow should start. Tilt it so it points from the side of your nose along the outside corner of your eye, and that’s where it should end. Then use the same pencil to fill it in!
3. A good brow powder will match the shade of your eyebrows—too light and it will show, too dark and it will look too harsh. Don’t be afraid to blend shades like you would with eyeshadow.
4. The more natural material you have to work with, the easier it is to shape your brows! There are prescription formulas specifically for growing eyebrows and eyelashes, or try Motives Fixx serum for a vitamin-enhanced version.
5. Groom what you’ve got with a inexpensive clear mascara—it will keep the shape of your brows in place. Maybeline Great Lash is a great choice, but any brand will do.
