4 Tips for an Awesome Mother-Daughter Relationship

There is nothing I cherish more than my relationship with my daughter, Amber. And, for any moms out there, you know – your children are your world – even when they become adults. Having a child brings out a love you didn’t even know you were capable of and when that baby is born – your heart is changed forever. No matter what, the world could be crumbling around me, I am always 100% focused on Amber and making sure our relationship gets the time and care it needs to stay healthy, happy and full of love.

So how do we do it? How do we make sure that relationship stays where it needs to be? We work on it all the time – and we’ll never stop – because it’s so special. It’s different in every family, but in ours, love comes first and everything else falls in place. But, here are few tips for an awesome mom/daughter relationship that we’ve picked up along the way.

4 Tips for an Awesome Mom/Daughter Relationship

#1. Keep the lines of communication open. Any relationship in a family can get tough when two people get frustrated or busy. And, as it turns out – not talking and not communicating will feed that fire more than anything. Communication is the name of the game – letting the other person know when you’re feeling left out or when you’re just not on the same page. Keeping the air clear and expectations known, helps set the stage for an open and healthy relationship going forward.

#2. Support one another. You’re family! And, at the end of the day – if your family can’t act as your support system, who can? Offer support when it’s needed and be that rock for one another to help weather any storms that come your way. Two heads are always better than one – and working together will help strengthen your relationship and ensure that you’re in it to win it.

#3. Have fun. What’s the point of working so hard if you can’t have fun together, right? Make a point of having time together that’s strictly fun – and don’t worry about all the details. Just enjoy being together and relish in the moments you have with one another. Life is what you make of it – so don’t forget to let your hair down and have a little fun every once-in-a-while.

#4. Maintain a mutual admiration for one another. You don’t have to do everything together. It goes without saying that finding a balance between not enough time and too much time together is tough, but once you find it – it’s smooth sailing. But, you can be excited for one another’s accomplishments or great life’s moments. Share in that joy and don’t hesitate to let each other know just how proud or excited you are.

Are you a daughter or mom working on your relationship? What works for you when it comes to finding that balance and making your relationship the absolute best it can be?
