Recently, both my girls J Lo and Leah Remini posted this awesome quote to their Insta feeds. It said, “If you can’t beat fear, do it scared,” and I have to admit – this one really struck me and stuck with me. We’ve all heard the saying “The worst fear is fear itself,” and it goes without saying that we shouldn’t let our fears stop us from doing anything.
Fear can be crippling – it’s a real thing! Causing us to stand in our own way and be our own road block even when deep down, we know we can do anything we put our minds to. So, what’s stopping you? What passions and potential accomplishments have you let your fears stand in the way of? And, how can you change that behavior? I don’t know about you, but I am ready to tackle my fears – and if I can’t – I’m ready to take on these challenges anyway. Not sure how to take that next step? Here’s a look at how to face your fears and keep on chasing your goals.

Write down your goals. This may seem like one thing has nothing to do with the other, but they’re absolutely connected. Putting pen to paper will help turn your goals into reality, giving you the guidance you need to make it all happen. Use that list to help define your next steps and lead the way from one goal to another. When things change, adjust the list. When you reach each goal, check them off and keep on moving.
Have a little faith…in yourself. You might be afraid of taking that next step, of doing something new or facing something that seems a bit daunting. But remember, you’re tough. You’re smart. And, you know what you want. You got this, no matter what it is.
Take it as it comes, one step at a time. One of the best ways of dealing with fear? Not thinking about it at all until the moment comes when you have to face it. Rather than dwelling on what you’re fearful of – just go after it right then and there.
Help yourself by helping others. If you can help mentor and guide others down that path of facing their fears, you’ll be much more prepared for facing your own. Be a listening ear for friends or family who have found their passions and are ready to take that next step, but just aren’t sure how and work with them to devise a plan. Then, put your own guidance and your own advice into motion.
There’s nothing as meaningful and special in life than achieving goals you’re after or facing fears that have plagued you. Accomplishments make you feel like you’re on top of the world and are a great reminder that if you can tackle that challenge, you’re completely capable of tackling them all. So what’s holding you back? And, remember: “If you can’t beat fear, do it scared.”
