It’s hard to believe that so many of my friends are such talented musicians, but they are – and it’s wonderful! I am so excited for Maxwell’s “The King + Queen of Hearts” Tour with Mary J. Blige, it’s going to be incredible. Kicking off the tour in the U.S. just a few days ago, these two stars performed just before Election Day – in our nation’s capital – what a way to start a tour! It was passionate, full of emotion and couldn’t have been more real.

Here’s what the Washington Post had to say,
“Compared with Blige’s tormented growls, the cool-sweet falsetto of Maxwell’s headlining set felt like sorbet for dinner and, in some ways, like an act of mercy. With his recent single “Lake by the Ocean,” the neo-soul veteran described love as a drippy, trippy water world, and the higher he sang, the lighter the proceedings felt.
But he tethered those high notes to the ground during a deliciously airy cover of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work,” during which video footage of Black Lives Matter protesters flashed on the giant video screen behind him. When it was over, he raised his fist to the rafters, then dedicated the song to Prince, Muhammad Ali, David Bowie and the presidency of Barack Obama.”

Coupled with Mary J. Blige, this is a duo that cannot be beat and one that’s been on stage and in the studio for countless years. Their experience, soulfulness and love of music is palpable – especially on stage together.
Thank you DC for an amazing night!! #kingandqueenofhearts #DC #vote #imwithher #masonmichelhat
