We have all thought about offering advice to co-workers at some point in our professional career. In many cases we spend more hours with our co-workers than we do at home. There is no surprise that we develop personal relationships and provide insights into our personal lives. With friendships come advice! Unfortunately, relationships can be tricky when offering advice in the workplace. Offering advice to co-workers has the potential to backfire professionally or personally. Let’s be honest, we have seen this happen throughout our careers. Although I do believe that great friendships can evolve between individuals who work together, I believe that you should proceed with caution when crossing those personal boundaries.
