Take Baby Steps: David Kirsch, celebrity trainer to J.Lo, Kate Upton and Heidi Klum, says it’s best to take it slow. “Just remember that if your New Year’s resolution involves fitness, it’s better to take baby steps than to give your entire routine a makeover.”
He continues, “For example, instead of resolving to run five miles daily, resolve to take the stairs instead of the elevator, and eat a salad for lunch. Gradually work your way up and your goals won’t seem overwhelming.”
Unplug: Health and wellness expert Sophia Gushee thinks it’s best to unplug whenever possible. “Electrical devices—such as televisions and appliances—emit electromagnetic fields.” But we are plugged in most of the time. So what does she suggest?
“You can reduce your exposures by removing unnecessary devices from your bedroom, where we spend 1/3 of our time,” she explains. “Minimize devices that are plugged in near your head (like electric alarm clocks and cordless phones).”
