Congratulations are in order for my amazing friend on her headline news today – Serena Williams engaged! She and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian announced their engagement on Reddit in a very whimsical fashion. Serena took to her Reddit account only two hours ago and wrote the following poem under the “I Said Yes” subreddit, where users share their engagement stories:
“I came home. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me. And a carriage waiting. Destination: Rome. To escort me to my very own ‘charming.’ Back to where our stars first collided. And now it was full circle. At the same table we first met by chance.”
She continued: “But by choice. Down on knee. He said 4 words. And I said yes.” How incredibly romantic. Ohanian announced his engagement news on Facebook in a simpler way. He wrote, “She said yes.” (via Facebook)
Ohanian also left a lovely comment on Serena’s Reddit post saying, “And you made me the happiest man on the planet.”
