Marilyn Monroe’s The Lost Nudes is the focus of the Vanity Fair June 2012 issue. It is hard to believe that the beautiful Marilyn Monroe has been gone from us for 50 years. In remembrance of the gorgeous sex symbol, Vanity Fair reveals never-before-published pictures taken by photographer Lawrence Schiller, titled The Lost Nudes. The brainstorm of the poolside shoot was actually in rebellion to Fox Studios, as they were paying more attention to Elizabeth Taylor. Marilyn took matters into her own hands and emerged nude from the pool to show she could garner just as much press as Elizabeth Taylor. Talk about a woman who knew what she wanted! Marilyn Monroe died before the pictures were released.
Vanity Fair’s The Lost Nudes story also reveals excerpts from an adaptation of Schiller’s memoir Marilyn and Me. He recounts intimate conversations he had with Marilyn when she spoke of inner struggles that she faced during her final days. Did you know that she never received an Academy Award or that she had a desire and a fear of having children? One of her biggest struggles is one that we all all face – she just wanted to be comfortable in her own skin as Norma Jeane. This is an exclusive, in depth interview. It is very interesting and insightful into the heart of Marilyn Monroe. She was not just a sex symbol but a woman looking to leave an imprint in this world. You can read The Lost Nudes on May 8th when Vanity Fair hits stands.
