Family First: Drew Barrymore Talks Kids & Career at the Golden Globes

Last night’s Golden Globes were nothing less than completely entertaining – I loved watching along as I do every year. From the red carpet to the awards program to Meryl Streep’s passionate Lifetime Achievement Award acceptance speech, there really wasn’t a dull moment. Looking at all those stunning actors donning gorgeous designer gowns, with impeccable hair and makeup, it’s tough not to think: how long does it take them to get ready for this event? They must be beautifying and prepping all day! But, then I saw this great headline on E! News: Drew Barrymore Puts Family First Before Leaving Kids to Fly to L.A. for Golden Globes. What did that mean? I had to find out.

Family First: Drew Barrymore Talks Kids & Career at the Golden Globes

In a nutshell, here’s the scoop: a mom is always a mom first and everything else comes second. I love that – it’s my favorite part about being a mom and it’s my favorite thing to see when I watch my own daughter be an incredible mother to her children. No matter if it’s just a quick trip out to do some errands or you’re slated to be a presenter at the glamorous Golden Globes, #momlife means making your kiddos your priority – no matter what. Here’s a bit more about what E! Live From the Red Carpet had to say about Drew and her Golden Globe day:

Drew Barrymore traveled to Los Angeles for the 2017 Golden Globes at the last minute for a very good reason. The actress made sure to spend as much time with her and ex daughters Olive, 4, and Frankie, 2, in New York City, where the family lives.

“I was in New York in the snowstorm last night ’cause I wanted to maximize time with my children,” the actress told E! News’ Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet at the 2017 Golden Globes. “I have a job to do but I chose to be a parent first and I swear to God the priorities paid off, my karma—we got on the plane and JetBlue got me right here. And it was all good. And I played in the snow with my kids all day!

Incredible, right? Especially considering how stunning Drew looked donning “a Monique Lhuillier ombré metallic Art Deco sunburst embroidered cape sleeve sheath dress and Harry Winston jewelry.”

Here are a few shots of Drew, her gorgeous dress and the sparkling jewels she accessorized with:

According to E! News, Barrymore was not nominated for an award but did present t the ceremony. She is currently promoting her new Netflix series, Santa Clarita Diet, which premieres next month.

“It’s a really good show for 2017,” she told Seacrest. “It’s got bite, it’s funny…I need light right now but I need something with bite.”

Don’t forget to watch the Fashion Police special Monday, Jan. 9, at 8 p.m., I can’t wait!
