If you’re flying solo this Valentine’s Day, I know it can feel like it’s just another rough holiday. It’s an easy one to struggle with especially if you’re not part of a couple, or feeling like your relationship just isn’t in the best place. It happens to everyone at some point or another – people change, things change and life happens – and, suddenly Valentine’s Day sneaks up on you. But I’m here to remind you that you need to love yourself, regardless. Love yourself, remember you matter, and that some years are about showing yourself some value. Trust me when I tell you those are some of the best years of growth.
Paired up or not, never forget how important it is to remember that your relationship with yourself is priceless. It will lead you to to all those goals you have set out for you. So in that spirit, let’s look at some ways to love yourself this Valentine’s Day.
Love Yourself This Valentine’s Day
Do something nice for yourself. Doesn’t that sound wonderful? I mean, how often do you simply get out of your own way to treat yourself to something special? It definitely doesn’t happen every day, so make this Valentine’s Day the one where you make YOU feel special. Take yourself out for lunch, book a spa day, treat yourself to a great bottle of wine – whatever it is, just make sure it makes you feel good.
Do something wonderfully healthy. It’s amazing how healthy activities really make you feel great both inside and out. And, Valentine’s Day should be all about feeling great. Treat yourself to a yoga session, an awesome spin class or a run outside. Or, maybe your idea of healthy is whipping up a wonderfully healthy meal like a delicious fresh soup or a light salad loaded with your favorite veggies and fruits. No matter what, leave this Valentine’s Day behind feeling like a million bucks.
Give yourself a pat on the back for everything you’ve accomplished. How often do you look at yourself in the mirror and simply give yourself props? You’d be surprised at how great it will make you feel to take some time to be proud of everything you do and everything you’ve done. We don’t always give ourselves enough credit for how hard we work and how often we help others – turns out a day dedicated to love is the perfect time to show some self-love too.
