Being pregnant is one of the most magical times for a woman. There’s nothing that can compare to the experience of growing a life, nourishing it and bringing a baby into this world. But that’s only the beginning! Once this little human being is here, they require a lot of work. And it can be stressful worrying about so many things that getting your pre-baby body back just isn’t a priority. One outspoken celebrity who has publicly discussed the topic is singer Pink, who welcomed son Jameson Moon Hart in December.
Although she’s in no rush to get back into her skinny jeans, she has been working out with celebrity trainer Jeanette Jenkins who shared tips with PEOPLE recently.
“Week one was about getting the body moving through all of the planes of motion and reconnecting the core back to movement,” she said. “The pelvic wall and transverse abdominus and all the muscles of the core have been working very hard from carrying and from labor, and it takes time and specific exercises to bring them back to function at their best.”
One of the most important things to remember, according to Jeanette, is to keep your workouts varied. It’s an important time to surprise your body with different movements for best results.
“Every session is different because it depends on what is going on in her body,” she says. “We mix up the methods of training — sculpting, rowing, boxing, dance, yoga, Pilates, power walking, jogging, running and cycling — for variety on the body, but there are some base moves that are done weekly to make sure we are specifically strengthening the pelvis wall, transverse abdominus and all the muscles of the core.”
No matter how you look, the thing to remember is to love yourself no matter what. Enjoy the journey! Every body is different and it’ll be easier for some people to snap back to their pre-baby bodies and it’ll take others longer. Not everyone has a budget like Pink to afford personal trainers, but you can check out Jeanette’s official Instagram where she shares a lot of her best moves. You don’t even have to be a new mom to enjoy them!
