The last two weeks have been brutal for television fans as many of their favorite shows met the ax ahead of upfront presentations. But the gaps those shows left behind, are to be filled by some exciting new titles. One of the biggest shockers was learning that “Scandal” was being renewed but just for one final season. But creator Shonda Rhimes would never leave her beloved gladiators hanging! It was announced on Tuesday that her newest legal series “For the People” has been picked up and will debut this fall.
The series, which takes place in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, will introduce a whole new crop of young attorneys thirsty to win some high-profile cases. They’re smart, they’re motivated and they’re hot! It sounds like Rhimes might just have another huge hit on her hands. It’s also worth mentioning that ABC continues to do a fantastic job of bringing intelligent and diverse series to the table.
The cast includes Ben Rappaport as Seth Oliver, Susannah Flood as Kate Littlejohn, Wesam Keesh as Jay Simmons, Regé-Jean Page as Leonard Knox, Ben Shenkman as Roger Gunn, Hope Davis as Jill Carlan, Vondie Curtis-Hall as Judge Nicholas Byrne and Anna Deavere Smith as Tina Krissman. It’s so nice to see Deavere Smith back on television on a drama series after wrapping up seven amazing seasons on “Nurse Jackie.”
And you don’t even have to wait to see a quick preview of the show! ABC released the first official trailer today. Watch it below:
