MAIC 2017: 5 Ways to Own Your Struggle

loren, loren ridinger, maic, maic 2017,

If you listened to my “You’re Not That Busy” speech During MAIC 2017, then you know I talked a lot about struggle and suffering. We’re all suffering and we’re all trying to make it. Do you think Scottie Pippen became an Olympian by chance? No, he worked hard, he overcame obstacles, he struggled. He struggled with himself and what he had to accomplish. This happened to JR and I and it’s happening to all of you. We’re all struggling, we’re all suffering. That’s why it’s important that you own it in order to overcome it. Make it your own! Read here to learn how to own your own struggle.

You’re Still Here- You’ve been through so much in life and you’re experience is as valid as anyone else’s. You’ve overcome a lot to be where you are now, and guess what? You’re still here. You’re a survivor because you’ve suffered and struggled in you’re own way. That alone should show you the strength you have. You can make it through anything.

Acknowledging Your Obstacles- Acknowledge your #1 obstacle: YOU. You’re the only one that’s stopping yourself. No one else. Once you realize that you can own the work that you put in, own your struggle, own the hard work and the difficult times. That’s when it gets easy.

Embrace Change- There’s no way that any of this is going to be easy. Things are going to come up. Fears are going to come into fruition. You can resist it, or you can embrace it with open arms. I always use affirmations. One of my favorites is: “I love change. Change is easy for me.” This way, when change comes my way, my subconscious mind is ready for it.

Focus on the Vision- In those moments where you’re struggling the hardest, take a moment to focus on the end goal. When JR and I were struggling, instead of focusing on the negative, we’d move straight to the positive. Remind you’re send that the struggle is worth it in the end. Trust me.

Make A Great Story- The best part of all this is that when you succeed, you’re struggle will be well worth the pain. Success is the best revenge, so all of this will not only make for a great learning experience, but a good story as well. Remember that there isn’t success without struggle.

You’ve got this! How are you owning your own struggle? Let me know in the comments section or tweet me @lorenridinger.
