Every year, we eagerly await Pantone’s announcement for the color of the year. This year we got a gorgeous mix of Rose Quartz and Serenity. There was a lot of buzz surrounding these beautiful pastel shades and the color announced for 2017 is no different. Yup, it’s been officially announced and everyone has got something to say about it. My thoughts? You’ll just have to read on to find out!
Pantone Announces Color of the Year for 2017
So what is the color of the year? 2017’s color is “Greenry,” or Pantone 15-043.
Think apples, succulents, and green juices. Pantone says their color is all about newness.
“We know what kind of world we are living in: one that is very stressful and very tense. This is the color of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew. Every spring we enter a new cycle and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life affirming to look forward to.”-via
I’m all about living in a world where there’s a sense of optimism so I can stand behind the bright green color that’s all about taking a fresh take.
As much as I love this bright take on 2017, some people aren’t feeling as optimistic about the color. Take, for example, Haley Nahman of The Man Repeller:
“Greenery,” to be clear, is green. A bright moss, a little lichen-y, a bit half-sour pickle-ish, a tad Palm Springs astroturf-esque. As in, the color you painted your childhood bedroom and regretted for several hideous years thereafter.”-via
