Brains evolved to promote survival skills, not create happiness. Even when our brain releases those feel-good happy chemicals like serotonin and dopamine, its to meet a survival need and is only released in tiny amounts.
Stress releases feel-bad chemicals like cortisol, which can induce negative feelings. Our brains scan everything around us looking for problems or danger, like hunters in the wild.
If we don’t actively train our brain to look for positives, our mind could become consumed by negativity. Negative thoughts will shift the whole energy of your day.
Why do our brains go negative?
Our brains are like a ‘negative lens’ filter. Disappointment and fear trigger cortisol which commands our attention to scan for survival. Social comparison is natural for humans, but when we compare ourselves to others or feel weak, we release cortisol.
How do I train my brain to go positive?
Experts recommend spending one minute, three times per day, looking for positives. Do this for 45 days, and you will train your brain to see and focus on positive thoughts and vibes only.
Energy and negativity are transferable – that’s why I am ALWAYS saying how important it is to surround yourself with positive, happy people. It would be near impossible to train your brain to see positives if there are people around you that are consistently negative. Now it the time to remove these people from your inner circle.
