Did you know that a staggering 50 million Americans are expected to set off for a little adventure to leading Thanksgiving travel hotspots today?
Sadly, not everyone has a family, or the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with family if they live far away from home. Days like today make me feel so lucky and blessed to have such an incredible family.
I’ll be thinking about all of those without family, those who cannot be with their family today and the people of Puerto Rico who are still living in highly distressing circumstances following hurricane Maria.
Thanksgiving Travel: Top Places to Run Away to
Lombok and the Gili Islands, Indonesia.
Float in turquoise waters surrounded by white sand and coconut palms. The Gilis are the very definition of paradise. This island is becoming a new trendy hotspot, with hip new hotels and venues popping up frequently. The perfect place to get lost.
Auckland, New Zealand.
Piha beach is a picturesque must-see located on Auckland’s rugged West Coast. Expect long scenic and soul-searching walks through native forests.
Playa Blanca, Costa Rica.
Voted one of the happiest countries in the world, Costa Rica is the very epitome of adventure traveling. Playa Blanca is a hidden treasure, promising caramel sand and crystal clear waters. Although relatively unknown to tourists, locals love this beach – so arrive early to get parking.
Patagonia, Chile.
Voted one of the friendliest countries in the world, Chile is a fabulous destination for single travelers. Journey to the end of the earth and discover the scenic emerald lakes backdropped by picturesque snow-capped mountains that will take your breath away.
Himeji Castle, Japan.
Possibly one of the most elegant and beautiful locations in the world, Himeji Castle is one of the very few remaining traditional Japanese castles. Just WOW!
Iceland.
One of the best places in the world to witness the northern lights, there are many other wonders to discover here. Steaming geysers, icebergs, black lava beaches, volcanoes and so much more. When you’re ready to relax, there’s the Blue Lagoon Spa to escape to and relax.
