Serena Williams Returns to the Court

Serena Williams Returns to the Court, serena williams, tennis, alexis olympia ohanian jr,

It’s been a fun week of family time and holiday headlines, but I have to admit I’m excited to get into the New Year and start working on some of those resolutions and goals. I was particularly excited to get back to the grind of regular life when I saw the recent headline that Serena Williams is ready to get back on the court! So exciting for her and her growing family. Having a baby is an amazing experience, one that can be tough to recover from, and for professional athletes, it must be even more challenging. When your career and livelihood are reliant on your body to perform, getting back into competition-level fitness is no easy feat. I’m so thrilled for Serena that she’s ready to go and ready to get back at it. Here’s a bit about what the news had to say:

“New mom Serena Williams is preparing to return to the courts.

The tennis pro will compete in an exhibition match against Latvian player Jelena Ostapenko at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

The appearance will mark her first competitive match since welcoming her daughter, Alexis Olympia, in September. Prior to the baby girl’s arrival, the 36-year-old athlete won her 23rd Grand Slam title while eight weeks pregnant at the 2017 Australian Open in January.”

Serena Williams Returns to the Court

Serena has had a big year – winning a Grand Slam title while pregnant last January, welcoming a new baby girl to the family and getting married to Reddit Co-founder, Alexis Ohanian just a couple of months ago in New Orleans. So many milestones in such a short amount of time – it’s incredible!

“I am delighted to be returning to the court in Abu Dhabi for the first time since the birth of my daughter in September,” Williams told ESPN in a statement. “The Mubadala World Tennis Championship has long marked the beginning of the men’s global tennis season and I am excited and honored to be making my comeback as part of the first women to participate in the event.”

It’s amazing to see someone have such an action-packed year and get right back up to return to work as a full time athlete – more big things to come in 2018! Good luck
