With the New Year just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about ways to feel more energized, especially in the morning. And, when you hit that pillow at the end of the night, you can feel great about everything you accomplished and a well-deserved sleep coming your way. Most of us lean on coffee, tea or something caffeinated to kickstart the day, but what about energizing your morning without that stuff? Not sure it can be done? Keep reading for some quick tips on how to energize your day.

Start with meditation. It sounds like it may have the opposite effect? Nope. This is a great way to center yourself and your energy before you get the day rolling. A quick five or ten-minute meditation will give you the time to focus and channel your energy in a way that will help direct everything toward success. Rather than starting your day off frantically, mediation will help you feel organized and balanced. Try it – you’ll love it.

Drink a big glass of lemon water. Getting your hydration on first thing in the morning is one of the best ways to cleanse the system and get everything moving. The lemons will help to detoxify, and the hydration will also help get your brain functioning at peak performance. Your muscles will appreciate this, your metabolism will start cranking, and your whole body will just feel good.

Get some form of exercise. This can be anything to a brisk walk with the dog to a full out weight lifting sesh at the gym. Whatever type of exercise is your jam, be sure to start your day off with some. Your body and mind will appreciate you for it.

Eat a great breakfast. This one is important. We’ve heard this our whole lives, but there’s a reason why: starting the day with a healthy breakfast makes you feel great. Not too much, not too little – and keep it balanced and healthy. Skip the sugar and focus on lean protein and fiber. A Greek yogurt and a handful of blueberries or a sprouted whole-grain toast with peanut butter. Great options, super-fast and easy to make and will leave you feeling ready to start the day.

Focus on your sleep. One of the best ways to feel good in the morning is to get just enough sleep. Make sure you get to bed with enough time to get a full eight hours in before you have to wake up for work and life. Do the math. Make sure you get that time in, and you’ll be feeling ready to start each day rested and energized.

So, how about it? Can you incorporate these ideas into your daily routine to energize your morning?
