Thursday thoughts always present the ideal opportunity to let our minds wander and reflect on life. What exactly determines love – is it the way we look at ourselves in the mirror or how we feel about our partner? Or is love the drive and the lengths we silently acknowledge deep down in our soul we would go to, if and when required, to protect our children and family?
Thursday Thoughts: What is Love Anyway?
#1 Everyday Love
The love you feel for your roommates or friends that you spend a considerable amount of time around – especially the ones that call you in the middle of the night looking for a virtual shoulder to cry on.
#2 Tough Love
This type of love is tough on us but often teaches us our most valuable lessons. Tough love is displayed by parents because they care about you and are trying to keep you safe and sane with boundaries, and tough love is letting someone go even when you don’t want to because their happiness means more to you than your own.
#3 Authentic Love
Love is knowing every single one of a loved one’s flaws, but loving them unapologetically anyway, because you couldn’t NOT love them even if you tried. Authentic love is never giving up on trying to make a relationship work with this special person because they mean the world to you. It’s the lioness love we have for our baby cubs. It’s even the unconditional love we have for our pets – and the inarguable understanding that they are the most adorable, charismatic pet in the world. Facts. Even though they destroy your house every time you turn your back for 5 minutes. Unconditional. Love.
