People can be hard work, especially stupid people – but that’s a whole other blog topic for another Friday feels kind of day. One of the most painful parts of growing up is probably having to endure the repeated lessons that your BFF today likely may just be somebody that you used to know in a month or two’s time. People, like everything in life, are temporary and can stab you in the back at any given moment.
Friday Feels: 4 Signs They’re About to Stab You in the Back
You will always have your ride or die friends for life, but you have to remember these types of beautiful friendships are rare. The majority of ‘friends’ will drop you like a hot potato when it suits them, or when they no longer perceive your relationship as beneficial to them. The Holy Grail of life is learning to spot these toxic people and cut them off before they have the opportunity to stab you in the back and bring a warzone of drama into your life.
#1 They’re a compulsive liar
If they repeatedly cancel plans later to be seen elsewhere partying it up across their social media pages, they’re a ticking time bomb. Friends don’t lie to friends; it’s that simple.
#2 Everything’s a competition
She asks what you’re wearing prior to any event you attend together. Not out of interest – more out of making sure you don’t out-dress her. BFFs lift each other up and genuinely believe you are of the most beautiful people in the world. Jealousy is an ugly, toxic trait.
#3 They always wants something
Even if you haven’t seen her (or him) for a week or a month at a time sometimes, she always seems to need something from you. These types of toxic friends will happily drain your energy (and bank) levels without a second thought. Hit unfriend.
#4 She’s always trying to belittle you
Whether it’s in front of your crush, other friends or just via email, belittling someone frequently isn’t funny. The same way their passive aggressive texts laced with put-downs aren’t fooling anyone when they stick a smiley face or LOL at the end. She’s a mean girl (or guy), and you need to detach as quickly as humanly possible.
