The last weekend of the summer is unofficially marked by Labor Day – officially when the kids go back to school. Thankfully, we are still a few weeks away from that at this point. But if you want to plan ahead to celebrate the end of summer, I’ve got a few tips to share with you on how you can soak up the last few rays of sunshine.
5 Ways to Make the Most of Life Before the End of Summer
1. Hit the Water Park/Beach/Lake/Pool.
Channel your inner child and hit up your local water park for a day of thrills. Take a drive to a nearby beach or lake and spend the day enjoying the sun. Or stay close to home and check out your neighborhood pool to keep cool in the summer heat.
2. Enjoy a Spa Day.
Nothing says relaxation quite like a day at the spa. Book yourself a hot stone massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure for a head-to-toe rejuvenation session. Sometimes you need to treat yourself!
3. Head to the Movies.
Take a break from the sun to enjoy some buttery popcorn, an ice cold beverage, and the latest blockbuster on the big screen, all while sitting in your plush movie theater seat. And don’t forget about the A/C! There is something extra refreshing about seeing a movie in the summer. It’s one of my favorite activities.
4. Have a BBQ or Picnic.
Invite your neighbors, friends, and family over for a “say farewell to summer” BBQ. Fire up the grill, serve a variety of meats and vegetables depending on your crowd, and be sure to fill out the meal with pasta and potato salads, lemonade, watermelon slices and homemade fruit popsicles. Alternatively, head to a local park (or even your backyard), spread out a blanket and have a picnic. Bring a charcuterie plate, grapes, wine and dark chocolate for a gourmet spread.
5. Indulge in a Staycation.
Binge watch a new Netflix show you’ve never seen before. Take a nap. Camp out underneath the stars in your backyard. Whatever you do, make sure you’re fully relaxed.
