CurlFest is a celebration of natural beauty. The Curly Girl Collective held this year’s 5th annual CurlFest at Prospect Park in Brooklyn NY on Saturday, July 21st. CurlFest provides a safe space for beautiful, strong, and confident women of color to celebrate their natural hair and beauty. Simone Mair, of the Curly Girl Collective, made sure to stress the importance of empowered women and natural hair. “I think that natural hair has always been a sign of empowerment and it’s resurfacing in this organic way,” said Simone. “It’s just a tangible way to represent women of color and what we look like.”
