So much of life is permeated with negativity. Don’t you feel better when you’re feeling positive? How do we make that shift? How do we reprogram our brains to prefer positivity over negativity? Keep reading for my tips and tricks on how to think positive.
How to Think Positive
Practice Positive Repetition.
When something good pops into your head or happens in your life, dwell on those memories and moments and think of them often. A lot of times negativity saturates our minds because we dwell on the bad. Make the shift to positivity and hold on to those thoughts in your head and repeat them over and over again to train your mind to effortlessly focus on the positive instead.
Pick a Daily Mantra to Repeat to Yourself.
Write it down in your journal, or on a sticky note so you can read it when you’re at work. Read it over and over to yourself throughout the day.
Create a Gratitude List.
A great journaling exercise is to keep a list of all of the happy things and people in your life and add to it whenever you have a beautiful new experience. I keep a list of things that make me smile – a favorite song, my family, a wonderful memory – and any time I feel sad, I look back at that list and am reminded of all that I have to be grateful for. Listen to that song that always cheers you up, call your best friend, or just remember a good time. Even though bad things happen, we can always be reminded of when things were better, because they will be that way again one day soon.
