Do you know how many time wasters there are out there, from people to apps and everything in between? A LOT. And, since I don’t want to waste your time, I’m going to cut straight to the point. Keep reading to find out more about the seven most prolific time-wasting habits you need to quit RIGHT NOW to focus your energy on growing your business and making more money.
Quit These Time-Wasting Habits to Make More Time for Your Business
1. Checking Email Constantly Is Both an Energy Vampire and a Huge Time Waster.
You might be shocked to hear this, but it’s true. Try turning off your email for hour-long intervals throughout the day. I promise you will get so much accomplished without the constant interruption. Yes, emails are part of your business, but as long as you answer them within a 24-hour period, you should be just fine.
2. Speaking of Emails, Writing Long Emails Is Pointless. So, Get to the Point.
No one has time to read multiple paragraphs-worth of information. Put urgent to-dos at the very beginning of the email, then write a succinct summary below.
3. Keep a To-Do List or a Planner to Keep Yourself on Track 24/7.
This old-school trick is one I love. I write everything down and physically cross things off when I’ve accomplished them. Make sure to keep your lists in one place. Select a notebook you can quickly toss into your bag when you’re on-the-go, so you always know what’s next.
4. Multi-Tasking Is Pretending to Do a Lot of Work but Never Actually Accomplishing Anything.
Stick to one singular task at a time making sure it’s done accurately. That includes constantly procrastinating on social media platforms!
5. Stop Focusing on What Others Are Doing.
Is your team or network of friends who work from home heading out to lunch but you’re still hard at work? Don’t worry about it. Keep working to accomplish your project and make sure it’s flawless. You’ve got to give your best to keep growing as a person and as a business.
6. Learn to Say No When You Are Stretched Too Thin or Learn to Delegate.
Both of these tricks are invaluable, so start practicing now.
7. Clean Your Desk and Keep Your Inbox Tidy.
You will feel so much more organized and together when your work area is neat. You’ll also be able to easily find that piece of paper or invoice you need at a moment’s notice.
