There are 24 hours in a day and 168 hours in a week. Are you spending that time building the business of your dreams, prioritizing your well-being, and spending time with your loved ones? If you need to reset your priorities, don’t worry. That’s what the new year is for! Read on for some of my best time management hacks to balance out your life and give you more quality time for all of the things you love the most.
5 Ingenious Time Management Hacks
1. Multi-tasking is a lie.
You can’t entirely focus on two or more things at the same time and do them successfully. So give one task your undivided attention until it’s where it needs to be, then move on to the next thing. When it comes to your business, you want it to be the best. So focus completely and give it your all.
2. Be mindful of distractions.
That quick Twitter break can quickly turn into 2 hours if you’re not careful. Set an alarm clock on your phone, or activate the Screen Time functionality if you have an iPhone or download a similar app that monitors how long you use your phone. Taking regular mental breaks is important, but consider going for a quick walk outside to get some fresh air instead or listening to a podcast.
3. Give yourself a time buffer in-between tasks.
Schedule a quick 5-10 minute buffer in case you run over on time, or give yourself a quick mental break to refocus on the next task at hand.
4. Wake up earlier.
If you wake up at 6 am (instead of 11 am or 12 pm, for example), you can gain an extra 5-6 hours per day. This shakes out to an additional 30 hours per week, 120 extra hours per month, and 1,440 extra hours per year. Buying an alarm clock and a new coffee pot doesn’t sound so bad now, does it?
5. Transform your day-to-day tasks into habits.
Make your key to-dos part of your daily routine, and eventually, they will become second nature. Make a list of things you regularly do that you might be able to adopt as daily habits and start implementing them.
