Happy Mental Health Week! I feel so blessed to live is a society where mental health is becoming less and less taboo. There was a time where people with mental health issues were cast aside or not able to get the help they needed. Not anymore! Even with all the leaps and bounds we’ve made around mental health, there are still ways where we can improve. That’s why bringing mental health to the forefront during this week is so important. If you’re looking for ways to improve your mental health you’ve come to the right place. Below are ways you can improve on your mental health today!

4 Ways You Can Improve Your Mental Health Today

Exercise-The body releases stress-relieving and mood-boosting hormones when you exercise. This is a powerful way to reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of depression. It could even help make you feel happy. You don’t have to do a big workout to make exercise a part of your day. Try small steps like taking the stairs or going for a brisk walk in the afternoon.

Positivity- As you know, I’m all about affirmations. It’s a matter of believing in them to make them happen. I take in affirmations and repeat them to myself on the daily. Find one that works for you. My favorite? “I am enough.” Start repeating this to yourself when you feel like anxious thoughts are affecting your day.

Focus on One Thing- Try to focus on the present moment. Maybe a quick meditation will help. Focusing on one thing, like your breath, for example allows us to let go of all those negative thoughts running rampant in our heads. Let go by bringing your focus inward.

Open Up to Someone- Call a friend who you know will be empathetic to how your feeling. Let it out and see how you feel. If you still feel heavy and drained or your negative emotions persist, make an appointment with a mental health professional. Your mental health is as important as your physical health. You deserve to feel good!
