Being released this Friday, the documentary film Waiting
for “Superman”takes an in-depth look at the
current state of our country’s public education system. And it’s quite
startling. David Guggenheim, the Academy Award-winning director of An
Inconvenient Truth brings us this film that follows the
life of several children who are against all odds for attaining a good
education. Also in the documentary, Guggenheim introduces us to education’s
real life “supermen” (and women), the people who are working to reform the
system.
I encourage you to go see the film for yourself. Hopefully,
it will inspire you to take action in your community. And for those of you who
are teachers, please know we appreciate you and know the difference you are
making. Knowledge is the key to success
and everyone deserves a chance.
Here’s a look at the trailer. Afterwards, you may want to visit the “take action” tab on the film’s website. Let me know what you think.
