The cold calling and social demands of sales roles can be challenging for the introvert. Fear not; there are a few proven sales methods that work for even the most introverted amongst us.
1. Give authentic compliments.
No one likes a salesperson who regurgitates fake compliments and scripted sentences. Give authentic compliments to build rapport with sales prospects. Imagine you’re selling online courses.
“It’s so invigorating to meet people who prefer spending their free time on self-development to raise their entrepreneurial (or career) game instead of watching Netflix.”
You’ve set an expectation that people want to live up to – who wouldn’t want to improve their personal development and career opportunities?
2. Research and listening skills are essential.
You need to know your product and your target market inside-out. Go into every sales meeting with a precise understanding of each person you’re meeting with and their brand or business values. When you sit down with your contacts, listen to what it is they need. Connect the dots and make notes on how your product can provide solutions to their problems.
3. Make an offer no one can refuse.
Once you’ve communicated how your product is the solution to their business needs, give extra motivation. Offer a genuine deal that includes additional benefits or a discount for a valid reason.
Selling is more comfortable when you believe in your product and know how you can genuinely help your target market. Going into meetings or phonecalls prepared is vital. What are your favorite proven sales methods? Tweet me @lorenridinger.
