Our minds like to be in a happy state, so it’s human nature to procrastinate sometimes. The problem is, procrastination leaves a wake of destruction in the form of anxiety and stress due to uncompleted tasks. The difference between successful people and procrastinators is that thriving entrepreneurs have learned ways to beat procrastination.
4 Ways Successful People Beat Procrastination
1. They customize their daily to-do lists.
Successful people have a habit of writing down their to-do lists or scheduling them directly into their calendar for the next day before leaving the office each way.
Prioritize your tasks starting with the most urgent responsibilities from first thing in the morning to get them completed before the universe has time to throw curveballs at you.
2. Allocate check-in times.
Email notifications can be a constant distraction throughout the day. Allocate set times in the late morning, lunchtime and afternoon to check and respond to urgent emails. Everything else can wait until the end of the day.
3. Trick your mind.
For the tasks you hate, allocate 5 minutes in the morning to tackle a chunk of the assignment. More often than not, you’ll find yourself getting into it and completing the entire task.
4. End with a beginning.
Before you take time out from a project, ask yourself what you need to next. Adopting this practice sets a starting point for the next day and helps eliminate time wasted on procrastination.
