Do you ever feel that the taste of success is eluding you? You know you want it, but you just aren’t sure why you aren’t achieving all of those goals? No matter what you have your sights set on, the path you take to get there is often just as important as the success itself. From your mindset to your fears, here’s a look at six things that just may be holding you back from success.
- Your fears often guide your lack of action. Being afraid is a very valid feeling, there’s no doubt about it. But, when your fear of the unknown starts to hold you back, it’s time to reassess and figure out why you’re scared. When you take a closer look, you often realize it’s merely fear of change – and you know what? If you want to reach those big goals, things will change (for the better!) and it’s time to put those fears aside.
- You continually put things off while you wait for “the right time.” No time is ever really going to be the right time for making huge shakeups in your normal routine. Change is tough on everyone, but it’s often exactly what’s needed to add some spice to life and get that fire going again. Rather than waiting for the right time to make moves, how about changing your tune: there’s no time like the present.
- When things don’t happen immediately, you give up. Nothing that’s worth waiting for happens immediately….because, it’s worth waiting for! So be patient. Put your head down, do the work, put in the time and – believe me – the results will come.
- You forgo listening to your inner voice because you’re so busy listening to the advice of others. Sometimes advice from a wise and trusted loved one or friend is essential – you need that objective opinion. But, when it comes to achieving our own goals and setting the course to get there, no one knows what the right path is but you. Don’t be afraid to trust yourself and follow your instincts.
- Rather than rolling with the changes, you dig your heels in and won’t change your course. Sticking to your plans is one thing, but being completely unwilling to be flexible is another. Things are not always going to happen in the order or the way you see them happening in your mind – and being willing to roll with the changes is essential to achieving those goals. Remember, this a journey – be open to what it brings your way.
- You look to others for approval. At the end of the day the decisions you make to achieve your own goals matter to you – and waiting on approval from others or comparing yourself to someone else isn’t going to help you get there. Make the decisions that you feel comfortable with and compare yourself to know one but your inner instincts – if you’re happy that’s all that matters.
