Every once-in-a-while, you need a little boost just to get re-inspired, don’t you agree? It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut – and, often you don’t even realize you’ve gotten there. Being in a funk can happen to anyone. Even the most motivated person can find themselves looking for a way out and in need of motivation.
No matter how you feel, you have to remember that there’s always a way to turn a negative into a positive. Sometimes you just need to take a few small steps in the right direction and then the rest will follow. From getting inspired to finding a healthy path to figuring out how to change the course of your career – and everything in between! – here’s a look at a few simple ways to get re-inspired.
Fighting the Blahs: 5 Simple Ways to Get Re-Inspired
#1. Narrow it down and stay focused on a single goal. Sometimes when you find yourself frustrated and in need of inspiration, making sure you stay focused can really be the name of the game. When your life gets hectic and busy and you’re not sure what end is up, shaking off the excess and narrowing down your activities and responsibilities can really help. Rather than spreading your energy and your efforts across many goals, use this time to accomplish one thing.
#2. Tell your close friends and family what you plan to do. A public announcement stating that you’re about to make a big change or committing to a high-intensity goal or project is one of the best ways to get it done. Turns out, you’re supporters will get excited too – let the cheering squads begin! It also give you a sense of accountability that goes beyond just yourself. You’ve made a commitment and you’re ready to go after it – that’s how you get it done.
#3. Narrow your larger goal into smaller more doable goals that you can chip away at. Let’s say you’re goal is to lose 100 pounds or to run a marathon. You’re simply not going to accomplish those things overnight – and if you put that type of pressure on yourself it’s going to feel completely unsurmountable, a lot like climbing Mt. Everest. But, if you break it down into small goals – like losing 1-2 pounds per week or running 1-2 miles a day and building your endurance up, that is something you can and you will tackle.
#4. Keep it positive by celebrating the small victories. Sometimes it takes a while to achieve a big goal – that’s just the way it is. And, that’s why it feels so amazing once you finally get there. So rather than lamenting how far you are from your final destination, celebrate the little victories along the way. Let’s say you finally run that mile without stopping or you lose a pound this week…that’s absolutely awesome!
#5. Try using yoga or meditation to spend some time reflecting on the process and understanding what it’s going to take to get there. Sometimes having a few moments to spend focused completely on yourself is just what you need to be able to understand where you’ve come from and where you’re still headed. Take the time – even if it’s just five minutes a day – to simply sit with yourself and be.
Have you ever found yourself stuck in a funk, hoping to make a change, but in dire need of some inspiration? What helps you turn things around?
