Event planning is a lot of work regardless if your event is for 25 or 250 people. There is always pressure so my number one event planning tip is to stay organized and prepare, prepare, prepare. Putting together our Market America conferences for 20,000 people twice a year is an unbelievable task so make sure to seek event planning advice from a professional or hire a fabulous event planning team that can help you through the process; our Market America Events team is so talented and we are lucky to have them as part of our company.
If you’re just starting out with event planning, here are the event planning tips and advice that I have picked up over the years:
– Print out an hourly schedule and give a copy along with names and contact information to the entire staff.
– Always arrive early for everything in case something goes wrong.
– Headsets are your best friend for larger events. Cell phones will do for an event on a smaller scale.
– Create an overall budget and then break it down into categories for everything from decor to catering to location rental.
– Decide if your event will have a theme. It could be small like a basic color scheme or big like the company holiday party.
