Today, we’re taking a look at 1997 through 2001! Those were some big years for us at Market America, but there were also some big changes in fashion and style around this time. Read on to learn more about the late 90s and early 2000s fashion! Do you remember these trends, or do you prefer to forget about them? Let me know in the comments section below!
Years of Fashion:1997-2001

- The late 90s brought back velvet as a major trend. It was seen everywhere from the streets to the red carpet. Amber used to wear velvet skater dresses with Blossom hats. So cute!
- With the popularity of ‘Titanic’ we saw a lot of chokers, specifically chokers with dripping beads like the one Kate Winslet wore in the movie. This trend was sold out almost everywhere.
- Corsets made their first run in the late 90s. Little did we know, this trend would stick around for a few more years before dying out. It’s made it’s way back into fashion this year with plenty of “it” girls and fashion influencers showing off their corsets on Instagram.
- Who would forget the low rise jeans of the early 2000s. I wouldn’t rock this trend even if it did come back! Kudos to those who have tried!
- Does anyone remember the Chinese slipper? I remember pairing these with some jean skirts. Yikes!
