CVS is joining what is becoming the industry standard by using un-photoshopped beauty adverts. I love this! They’re joining the ranks of brands like Asos, Target, and Aerie who also use unaltered photos in their ads. Now that body-positive advocates have made it clear that they’ve had enough of being bombarded by impossible-to-emulate beauty standards, things are slowly starting to change.
Beauty News: CVS No Longer Photoshopping Ads
“As a woman, mother and president of a retail business whose customers predominantly are women, I realize we have a responsibility to think about the messages we send to the customers we reach each day,” Helena Foulkes, President of CVS Pharmacy and Executive Vice President, CVS Health, said in a press release. “The connection between the propagation of unrealistic body images and negative health effects, especially in girls and young women, has been established. As a purpose-led company, we strive to do our best to assure all of the messages we are sending to our customers reflect our purpose of helping people on their path to better health.”
I can’t help but agree!

I’m so ready to see real women on the cover of magazines and in more adverts! As a mother and grandmother, I want my girls to feel beautiful in their skin, so it’s essential that they see women with imperfections just like their own. This is only the beginning!
