More Behind the Scenes from Miami Swim

Miami Swim Week may be over but that doesn’t mean it’s far from gone. Today I’ve got a behind the scenes look from the Gottex Cruise 2017 show. Get the model’s makeup looks from the show with some tips from hairdresser René Furterer. It’s all here and you’re sure to get an inside look so read on!

To prep the hair, I started with René Furterer FIORAVANTI detangling spray on clean dry hair to close the cuticle at the scalp and add shine. I then followed up with René Furterer VOLUMEA volumizing conditioning spray – no rinse as a foundation to maintain the look. Since hair doesn’t hold up in the Miami heat and humidity, these products are a must!

Next, to get a really smooth finish, I blow-dried the model’s hair straight. A round brush works well for most hair types. I usually use a natural bristle flat brush if the hair is fine. I then sprayed hair with René Furterer LISSEA thermal protecting smoothing spray as I blow-dried in order to protect the hair from the heat of the blow-dryer. Using this product also helps hair repel humidity so that it stays smoother longer. For models with very frizzy hair, I worked in a bit of the René Furterer LISSEA leave-in smoothing fluid.

Once the model’s hair is blown out, I made a clean center part and pushed the hair behind the model’s ears. Separating out narrow sections of hair with the end of a rattail comb, I sprayed each section with René Furterer LISSEA thermal protecting smoothing spray and flat-iron on each section with a one-inch wide flat iron. This helped to make the surface smoother, the better to reflect light for great shine.

To hold the hair in place while the models were getting their make-up done, I clipped their hair right behind their ears with our signature René Furterer cards to prevent dents. Hair was also clipped below the earlobe to keep their hair from separating.

Once the models were done with their makeup, I unclipped their hair. Next, I sprayed a comb with René Furterer VEGETAL STRONG HOLD FINISHING HAIR SPRAY and brushed the comb through the hair at the roots. This helps to give hair just the right amount of hold and finishes off the sleek, straight look to perfection. A little bit of René Furterer TEXTURE SPRAY on the ends not only helps to tame flyaways, but also maintains the line of the hair and allows it to flow in a straight direction.

Just before the models hit the runway, I gave the model’s hair some sprays of René Furterer SOLAIRE protective summer oil for all-over shine.
