London Fashion Week just ended. Burberry, Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham and all the other amazing high-end British designers showed their collections to hoards of hungry fashion lovers. Have you been keeping up on all the collections at Fashion Week Online?
Before I get into all the best designs and looks from LFW tomorrow, I wanted to give a shout out to some British style icons to inspire this year’s LFW. They’re women that have influenced the world with their style and confidence. Read on, ladies, and be sure to leave me a comment down below!
Mary Quant- Not only did she invent the mini skirt, but she could also rock it like no other. She created a style revolution that’s more of a staple today. Thanks, Mary Quant, without you we might not have the guts to show off our legs in mini skirts.
Kate Moss– ‘Kate Moss’ is exactly that comes to mind when you think of British fashion. As the face of so many UK brands, she’s almost synonymous with neutral palettes, shaggy jackets, and ankle thin jeans. A modern icon if there ever was one.
Alexa Chung- Alexa Chung can look good in almost any look from quirky, pussy bow dresses to chic front-row jumpsuit. Her style almost never disappoints. She’s an ‘it’ girl for a reason, which is one of the reasons I’m such a huge fan of her style
Princess Diana- Princess Di was the fashion maven of the 80s and early 90s. During her marriage, she was known for her wide-shouldered looks with tabloids dubbing her Dynasty Di. Post divorce from Prince Charles, she pushed the envelope in terms of royal fashion. She wore necklaces as tiaras and played with hemlines as well as necklines. She was unafraid, showing off her thin figure with her feminine style. Just check out the dress below. It made so many headlines at the time.
Jourdan Dunn- It seems as though this supermodel has been seen in every fashion show and campaign designers have to offer; but with good reason, as she could probably make a rag look amazing. Her model-esque figure and fearless air makes her top every best-dressed list out there.
Audrey Hepburn- This list could not be complete without everyone’s favorite vintage style icon, Audrey Hepburn. On-screen, she wore the LBD of the century, and off-screen she was known for her simple sweaters, Capri smoker pants and ballet flats. She will forever be the reigning queen of effortless chic.
Jean Shrimpton- Shrimpton broke the modeling mold and paved the way for thin waif-like ladies like Twiggy and Kate Moss to make it into the scene. With her gorgeous face and straight figure, she was the fashion standard of the 60s.
