I’ve always been the type to play with color; hair color that is. I’m not afraid to go for a shade that’s dark or light. Lately, I’ve been asking my hairstylist to make me blonder.

The warmer temperatures calls for lighter locks, so I go for some highlights to brighten up my look. The things is, keeping up my blonde hair can be a hassle. How can I maintain it when I work on such a busy schedule? That’s why I’ve enlisted the help of our hair expert Niurka Mendoza to give us some tips on maintaining blonde locks with little effort. Read on to learn more!
It’s all about shampoo- According to Mendoza , it’s all about shampoos. “Use any blue or purple shampoo. These are called toning shampoos, so they should maintain your hair.” The thing is, everyone’s hair is different, so Mendoza also suggests using a “color lock” shampoo, if those toning shampoos don’t do their job right. I love this tip! We’ve all got to wash our hair, so this is an easy way to get my locks squeaky clean while also keeping up my hair color.

Protect your locks- Your hair needs just as much protection from the sun as your skin. Blonde hair gets brassy after too much sun exposure. Mendoza says to aim for a UV protectant spray. This will protect your gorgeous blonde locks from those harmful rays. Add some SPF to your body as well and you’re all set for the day!
