Want to make the back of your neck look skinnier? Sounds a little extreme if you ask me, but some Instagram stars are making neck contouring a serious trend. A few weeks ago, Instagram user @mwhairstyles posted a tutorial showing followers her neck contouring technique in order to make her neck look slimmer for updos. Check out the video below.

The difference is visible, but could this makeup technique become a trend? MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Regan Rabanal told Mashable he uses neck contouring techniques “all the time.” Still seems extreme, but Rabanal goes on to make a great point.
“I think that it’s interesting to see how many ideas are out there for contouring.It’s a technique that has always been present in makeup artistry from the early 1900s until now and has gained more popularity today due to how swiftly tutorials and photos are shared online. The most important thing to remember is how you customize it to your own daily makeup routine. It should fit your personal style.” – via
I can’t help but agree and think that maybe this makeup trend isn’t so extreme after all. If you’re all about making your neck slim and slender, then go for it. Makeup is all about self-expression, so why not try it if you’re interested?
