This year, Elle chose five women to grace the cover of their TV issue. These ladies included Olivia Wilde, Priyanka Chopra, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Viola Davis and, of course, Empire’s own Taraji P Henson. The covers have been praised time and time over for displaying a diverse group of women with the same amount of their bodies showing.
My favorite cover featured Taraji wearing a Marc by Marc Jacobs jacket, a t-shirt by Off-White and a necklace by Bulgari. In the photo her hair is naturally curly, cutting off the view of the second “l” in Elle. Taraji shows off a little more than the other ladies, but she’s the type to do what she wants, and it always pays off! She looks fabulous, confident and strong, which is how I love to see magazine cover girls.
Check out more photos from the covers below. I’m so excited to be seeing some diversity on the cover of fashion magazines! We’ve still got a long way to go, but it’s a step in the right direction.
