Brands Tom Ford and Burberry, along with Paris-based brand Velements are shaking up the fashion world and it might affect the way we experience fashion week forever.
It started with Burberry when they announced that they would not be showing at men’s fashion week. Then they announced to consumers that they wouldn’t have to wait to buy their favorite looks from collections. Now, the brand is incorporating a “see now, buy now” model. Now, Immediately after shows, you can buy your favorite looks online and in-store rather than waiting for the collection to be released. A few hours later, Tom Ford announced the same change to their brand.
With the advent of the Internet, the way we experience fashion has totally changed. Snapchat gives us an inside look at collections while runway shows are being live streamed and live tweeted. We’re getting insider information without having to be at the shows, which is great but it has also begun an onslaught of fashion copycats, creating designer pieces at lower prices.
The fashion world needed a change so it was time that these big-name brands took it upon themselves to do something.
What do you think of the ‘see now, buy now’ model? Do you think it’ll change the fashion world for good? Let me know in the comments section.
