I-Ella Named Time Inc’s 10 New York StartUps To Watch

Time INC has unveiled its list of 10 NYC startups to watch. “As an industry, publishing itself awash in digital change, so Times Inc as a company is always on the lookout for the next wave of innovation, ” Said John Huey, Time Inc’s Editor-In-Chief. “And as journalists we have a long tradition of identifying the next cool devise, or app, or just a really good idea that will change the way our world works.”

Congratulations to all of the named start-ups and especially I-Ella one of my favorite places to shop. Here is the list of Time Inc’s 10 New York StartUps to watch.



Foodspotting
Whether it’s spare ribs or foie gras, Foodspotting will find it. This innovative service zeros in on the perfect dish and tells foodies where it’s served, based on their location.
Goodsie
Bringing e-commerce to the masses, Goodsie makes it quick and easy for anyone to set up shop online through the creation of professional, custom Websites where they can sell their goods and services.
GroupMe
GroupMe provides free group messaging — like a private chat room that works on every phone with every contact. GroupMe was born at TechCrunch Disrupt in 2010.
I-ELLA
An invite-only Website that lets its fashion-forward members share their closets with fashionistas nationwide. I-ELLA lets them buy, borrow, swap, sell or lend new or barely-used haute couture while being charitable — a 10% transaction fee benefits the buyer’s favorite charity.
Manilla
Manilla is a secure, free online service that consolidates all household accounts — from cable and utility bills to banking and frequent flyer accounts — neatly on one page using just one password. Manilla reduces clutter through a highly functional interface, calendared due dates, payment reminders, bill payment and lifetime
document archives.
 OnSwipe
OnSwipe is a platform that makes it incredibly easy for publishers of all sizes to convert websites or advertising into a polished app-like experience on touch-enabled devices.
SocialGuide
The Internet’s first real-time, dynamically driven TV guide thinks outside the box by making it social. Whether gleaning meaning from Glee or wondering about the Wizards of Waverly Place, SocialGuide actively engages viewers in the most buzzed about TV conversations instantly.

Wanderfly
This next generation travel site provides custom tailored recommendations based on users’ interests and budget. The service sifts through more than 1,200 destinations and matches them with thousands of unique activities for a one-of-a-kind travel experience. Users organize and book their trip right on the site and then share their experiences with other travel enthusiasts using social networking tools.

WarbyParker
By creating designs in-house, WarbyParker is able to sell prescription eyewear direct to their customers for under $100. Their easy-to-navigate online eyeglass store has a groundbreaking offline component: Buyers can try on a pair on at home. The company sends out up to five pairs of eyeglasses for free and includes pre-paid return labels for the ones being returned.

Yipit
The recent explosion of deal-based internet services has made bargain hunting a time consuming and mailbox-overloading experience. Yipit.com cuts through the clutter by effectively aggregating and filtering over 500 sites, including Groupon, ShopIt To Me and Living Social. A one-stop shop for great deals.
