La La Anthony is a woman of evolution. We listened to her early days on the radio. Danced with her on TRL. Viewed her correspondence at exclusive Hollywood events. Watched her marry the man of her dreams, Carmelo Anthony. Now we will watch as she further evolves as wife, mother, and businesswoman on the second season of Vh1’s La La’s Full Court Life which premieres tomorrow, Monday March 19th! What makes La La so enticing to watch – besides her striking beauty – is her incredibly kind spirit and her down to earth approach to life. She is a woman on a mission to become all that she desires to be and happens to take us along on her ride of a lifetime. Loren’s World talks with La La about marriage, friendship, the Motives for La La brand and where she goes from here.
- Loren’s World: We love you in the show La La‘s Full Court Life! What makes you become so raw, uncut, and honest to the public?
- La La: I think that is what people respect and love about the show. People can read between the lines and know when you are not being authentic. When people watch the show, they can relate to similar things in their life that I go through. The show is very relatable.
- Loren’s World: How do juggle your role as a wife, mother and businesswoman? How do you get through those moments when you feel that any moment you can fall apart?
- La La: I prioritize what is the most important that has to get done during the day. I used to beat myself up when I did get everything done on “the list.” I have lightened up and realized that it is okay if some things don’t get done. There is always another day.
- Loren’s World: How do you manage to build the brand of the Anthony family but also retain and expound upon your brand as La La?
- La La: It is really nice that me and my husband can collaborate together. We produced the Mike Tyson documentary together and have a children’s book coming out. However, we are individuals with different careers. I want us to be married and in love. I try to keep business separate from marriage. When we are together, I want our focus to be our marriage, not necessarily the next business deal.
- Loren’s World: In the media as well as your show it seems that friendship is a huge component in your life. How do you define friendship and what is your best attribute as a friend?
- La La: I think that my friends appreciate that I am honest. I listen. Friendship is very important to me. I believe that you need that core group of girlfriends to go to talk things through.
- Loren’s World: As an entrepreneur and a media personality, how would you define the success that you have had?
- La La: I am happy with the success that I have had. I started at a radio station with Ludacris and things happened from there. Although I am happy, I do not want to settle or remain satisfied. I challenge myself constantly.
- Loren’s World: Can you list three life lessons that have stuck with you since the start of your career?
- La La: Stay humble. Treat people how you would want to be treated. Keep God first and everything else will follow.
- Loren’s World: Motives for La La is amazing! Why did you choose cosmetics as your next project and what is your vision for the brand?
- La La: Cosmetics is always something that I wanted to do. Loren Ridinger is my friend and I kept my eye on the line. I wanted to help her with elements that were missing in the line. I always wanted a line for women of color. I wanted beauty in every shade, which is what we say for the brand. We have beautiful colors for the spring, a lot of pinks for the blushes and lip shine. I am very happy with the way that it is growing.
- Loren’s World: What is the best advice that you would give young female entrepreneurs?
- La La: Don’t be afraid of hard work. When I first started in my career, I interned for free. I did everything from getting coffee to washing cars without complaining. I think that people are afraid to do things for free. Sometimes you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Grinding takes you to the next level. Your time will come.
- Loren’s World: What is next for La La Anthony?
- La La: I want to continue to grow as a businesswoman. I am going to continue to grow with the Motives for La La brand. I am going to continue to pursue my acting. I have a new film coming out, “Think Like a Man” in April. The second season of La La’s Full Court Life premieres on March 19th. I want to continue to grow as an executive producer of my show.
