If you’ve tried every exercise program under the sun and still aren’t seeing results (or having any fun!), then I encourage you to give it one more shot with BUTI. Named the hottest workout of 2013 by the TODAY SHOW and Shape Magazine, BUTI is a high-intensity workout that fuses yoga and dance with circuits of plyometrics and conditioning.

I recently sat down with the ladies behind BUTI, Christine Daley, Mary Catherine Shurett and founder Bizzie Gold to chat about their passion for fitness, being in business with friends and what to expect from your first BUTI class (Jennifer Love Hewitt revealed on Ellen that she’s a big fan!).

Loren’s World Interviews the Ladies Behind BUTI Fitness

1. People always ask me if its hard to do business with my friends! What’s been your experience working as an entrepreneur with other women? We wouldn’t have it any other way.  Our company has a very female-centric message and who better to relay that message than three great women who also are friends!?  Because we are friends, the stakes seem to be higher because we don’t want to let anyone down but with that the rewards are far greater and we find we hold ourselves to a higher standard as well! Not to mention we all know how women are fantastic at changing hats from work to girl talk and we pride ourselves with that expertise.  Suffice it to say our workplace is nothing short of awesome.

2. We all have a passion for something. Why fitness? I’ve actually never been passionate about fitness as a means to an end but rather I’ve always been an athlete.  Since the time I was young, I’ve had a competitive personality and loved to see how far I could push my body.  I eventually pushed it too far, resulting in a left and right ACL tear and turned to yoga to rehabilitate my knees.  Yoga changed my entire outlook on being athletic.  For the first time, athleticism was met with a form of spirituality that my soul really needed.  I found it therapeutic.  This is the part of fitness that is inspiring and what I aspire to incorporate in all of my classes.

3. What was the original inspiration behind the BUTI concept? BUTI® was created out of a need for more than what my traditional yoga practice was giving me.  I found the practice to be very masculine and rigid and was searching for something that focused more on female specific movement.  Not to mention I gained 55 pounds during my pregnancy and yoga wasn’t cutting it.  I have always loved to dance and I spent years as a competitive athlete, training in plyometrics and Olympic lifting.  I found a way to fuse everything I loved into one workout that was not only the best thing for my body but also for my soul.

4. Tell us more about what participants expect from their first class and benefits from the program. Most people feel shy and giggle their way through the entire first class.  BUTI® breaks down all kinds of personal and physical barriers allowing dramatic transformational results to occur.  Sometimes it only takes the first 30 minutes of the class for this to happen.  Unlike many other group fitness classes (the “that’s my mat” type), BUTI® provides a space for women to come together and experience their sexual power as a reflection of each other instead of a competition.

5. The BUTI program has garnered a lot of press and attention, from the TODAY show to Perez Hilton. What do you see for the future? Whatever it takes for us to reach as many women as possible to help them understand that what society has told them about themselves, their bodies, and how they relate to other women can be changed.  With that change comes emotional transformation, healthy eating habits, positive relationships and six-pack abs.  Oh… and to be on Chelsea Lately, Ellen and Dr. OZ.

Doesn’t it sound amazing? I support any program that encourages woman to be their best self. To find classes in your area, subscribe to their Tone and Sculpt workouts or pick up a new DVD, check out their website at  www.butifitness.com.
