My favorite films are the types that make me stop and think. Sometimes a movie can be so inspiring that it changes the way I view the world. In honor of the Academy Awards, I wanted to bring together some of the most inspirational quotes from film. They all have incredible truths that will help us lead extraordinary lives. Check them out below and be sure to leave me a comment with your thoughts. What’s your favorite movie quote? Let me know!
Pursuit of Happiness-I love this quote because it’s a truth that I hold dear. Let go of those negative people. The naysayers are the ones who never even tried.
“Don’t ever let somebody tell you you can’t do something, not even me. Alright? You dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it. Period.”
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back- Yoda has got some great advice, but the line below has to be my favorite. It takes determination to make something happen. You can’t just try. Put force behind everything that you do.
“Do, or do not. There is no try.”
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off- This quote is all about staying in the present moment and making the most out of it. Ferris is the poster boy for the present moment
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Finding Forrester- I believe that walking away from a fear of failure or a fear of success go hand-in-hand. Be so good you have to succeed.
“We walk away from our dreams afraid we may fail, or worse yet, afraid we may succeed.”
The Brothers Bloom- The Brothers Bloom is such a whimsical film and this quote made it all the more better. Let’s tell our best stories, shall we?
“We’re going to live like we’re telling the best story in the whole world. Are you ready?”
Van Wilder: Party Liason- I really hate worrying. It causes anxiety and so many other problems. Worry really is a waste of your time.
“Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere.”
Dead Poets Society– This movie is chalk full of amazing advice for creative people and dreamers alike. John Keating had so much wisdom and Robin Williams did an outstanding job playing him, which makes this movie extra special.
“No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.”
The Lord of the Ring: The Fellowship of the Ring- Preach, Gandalf!
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
The Notebook- The quote below, spoken by Noah, is so true. Are you living your life for you?
“You can’t live your life for other people. You’ve got to do what’s right for you, even if it hurts some people you love.”
Dead Poets Society- Another quote from Dead Poets Society. Make your life extraordinary, people.
“Carpe, carpe. Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.”
