10 Secrets to Saving More Money in 2013

1.     Stop paying those crazy ATM fees. If you have to have cash, try a cash back option at a convenience or grocery store. Or, go old school and go inside the bank.

2.     Scale back on your TV spending. Choose one – cable or Netflix, but not both. Do you really need it?

3.     Be sure you’re getting the best deal possible for phone service. Shop around.

4.     Avoid paying full price, for anything. Try daily deal sites like Groupon or Living Social.

5.     Pay attention to your spending. Get to know your bank account and get familiar with your spending routines.

6.     Stop using auto-pay features. Things like magazine subscriptions will automatically renew – instead think carefully about each purchase and bill.

7.     Stop eating out. Bring your lunch to work and limit your nights out to once or twice a week.

8.     Deposit your paycheck into a savings account and only move money over as you need it.

9.     If you have a savings, move some of that money to an account with a higher yielding return.

10.     Set specific money-saving goals, like for example: $3,000 for Hawaii vacation in March. Chip away at the goal, little by little.
