The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee is a grand event to honor milestones in a monarch’s reign. For three days there will be nonstop celebrations and receptions to pay homage to Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee. In honor of this wonderful occasion, here are 10 things to know about Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee:

- The Queen is the second longest serving monarch. Only five other kings and queens in British history have reigned for 50 years or more.
- Since 1952 The Queen has given Royal Assent to more than 3,500 Acts of Parliament.
- In 60 years, The Queen has undertaken 261 official overseas visits, including 96 State Visits, to 116 different countries.
- Over the course of the reign, almost a one and a half million people have attended garden parties at Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Hollywoodhouse (The Queen ended Debutante Presentation Parties in 1958).
- In 1969 the first television film about the family life of the Royal Family was made, and shown on the eve of the Investiture of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales.
- During the Diamond Jubilee, there will be BBC big screens around the UK to view the events.
- The Big Jubilee Lunch will occur on Sunday where people are encouraged to share lunch with neighbors and fiends. This will include large street parties and picnics.
- The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant will also occur on Sunday which will consists of of up to 1,000 boats assembled from across the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world. The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will travel in the Royal Barge which will form the centerpiece of the flotilla.
- There will be a televised Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace with tickets being available to UK residents by public ballot.
- On Tuesday 5 June a Service of Thanksgiving will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, which will be followed by a formal carriage Procession.
