May is the gateway into summer. School is ending, the weather is quickly warming up and – you can admit it! – you brain is feeling a little scrambled at the thought of spending weekends outside basking in the glorious sunshine. Here are 10 ways I’m planning on getting the most out of May.. won’t you join me?
10 Ways to Get the Most Out of May
- Connect with the earth. Do some gardening like flower pots, an herb garden or tree planting.
- Try a new healthy dinner recipe. Winter is over, making it the perfect time to experiment with alternatives to heavy comfort foods.
- Switch up your workout routine. Try a different class at the gym, take your workout outside or get involved with an at-home program, like The Fitnessista’s Summer Shape Up.
- Have a margarita. Cinco de Mayo is May 5th 🙂
- Arrange a getaway. Trips are good for the soul, don’t you think? A day trip to the beach, a weekend in the mountains, a road trip across the state – whatever works for you.
- Plan a picnic. Pack up your lunch and head to the nearest park to soak up some much-needed vitamin D!
- Listen to some live music. A daytime festival, a band at the bar or open mic night will do. Live music is good for soul.
- Honor our teachers, nurses and armed forces. On May 7th, May 12th and May 18th.
- Volunteer. A website like www.volunteermatch.org can match you up with services in your area that help those in need.
- Host a Memorial Day BBQ. Relax, take a deep breath and invite everyone over to your place. There’s nothing like good food and great friends to celebrate.
